Dacia Gap Insurance

Buy 5* Rated Gap Insurance With A 30 Day Money Back Guarantee

One of the newer companies on the scene, Romanian manufacturer Dacia has quickly built up a strong reputation since its formation in 1966. Government-owned for its first 30 years and then sold to Renault in 1999, Dacia is now its country’s most profitable organisation.

Dacia models are famously reliable and offer great value for money, but they are not immune to depreciation. New cars lose their value rapidly, and if something were to happen and your vehicle was written off, you might be left with an insurance settlement well below the initial purchase price. That’s where Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) insurance can provide the cover you need.

Let’s say that you bought a new Dacia Duster for £10,000 and that after owning it for three years its value dropped to £6,000. If an accident were then to occur and your vehicle was written off, your motor insurers would offer a settlement in line with its current value, leaving you £4,000 out of pocket. However, a Dacia gap insurance policy would cover you for that difference.

What is Dacia Gap Insurance?

Dacia gap insurance is a specialist form of cover designed to mitigate the effects of depreciation. Most insurers will only pay out for the market price of your car at the time you make a claim. That is often far less than you originally paid, which leaves you to make up the difference. A Dacia gap insurance policy from Direct Gap will cover that disparity between your car's original price and its value at the time of your claim, ensuring you’re not left out of pocket.

How does Dacia Gap Insurance work?

If you buy a Dacia for £40,000, it will depreciate over the time that you own it. Let’s say that a few years later, your car is stolen or written off – but by this point, its value has dropped to £25,000.

Your motor insurer will pay out in line with that value, which means you’ve lost out by £15,000. With Dacia gap insurance, you are covered for that difference between its purchase price and its value when it was declared a total loss.

Dacia: FAQs, Statistics & General Information

Dacia General Information

Despite being founded 80 years ago in 1966, Romanian manufacturer Dacia has most recently operated under the wing of French giant Renault. Since its emergence on UK markets, Dacia has been renowned for entry-level, affordable hatchbacks.

Affordable doesn't mean unreliable, though. Dacia offers a 60,000-mile warranty on all new models, for added peace of mind.

Dacia Models

The two core models in the Dacia range are the Duster and Sandero, both small, straightforward hatchbacks.

In recent years, Dacia have also ventured into other markets, with the Jogger, a bigger, crossover SUV and the Spring, pitched as a fully electric city car.

Dacia Depreciation

Given their budget-friendly image, Dacias are surprisingly good at holding their value when compared to other manufacturers.

Over three years, most models will lose approximately 25% of their value, with the Duster and Sandero both faring similarly. However, the Spring will lose value at a quicker rate, estimated to lose 60% of its value in three years.

Dacia Sandero Stepway

Our customer wrote their Dacia Sandero Stepaway off and received a final settlement from their insurer of £15,390. This was much lower than their original purchase price of £18,644, following a 17% depreciation.

We paid the difference of £3,565 thanks to their Gap Insurance policy.

Dacia Theft Statistics

Due to their low cost and ready availability of parts, Dacia cars are generally low targets for car thieves. However, that doesn't mean yours couldn't be one of the 135,000 stolen annually.
